Hello everyone and welcome back to the Electronic Music Alliance - December 2019 Newsletter!
This is our last newsletter of the year and before we even try to summarise how our first year of building the EMAlien Mothership went, we'd like to just say a big thank you to everyone who has supported our artists, the EMA community and EAR label! Seeing everyone share, get involved and interact with us on Twitter, enjoying the beats from our playlists and to the radio stations out there playing our music... it's been so warming to be a part of and long may it continue in to the next year :) With all that in mind, let's see what's been going on with the EMAlien Mothership in this past month as we've been orbiting the Blue Planet, seeking talented and active electronic music producers, whilst transmitting playlists to your favourite streaming sites starting with a final look at those 2019 numbers! EMA Community
With so many new EMAliens joining the community and you awesome new followers on our Twitter pages, we're going to have to build another area of our mothership to accommodate all of you as you can see from the numbers below!
A huge thank you to everyone who has been showing your support and we're very grateful to all of you EMAzing followers who listen in to our weekly playlists! Big shout as well to all our EMAliens on the Mothership making it such a fun and vibrant place to be! Keep up the awesome vibes everyone!
Regular Playlists
We have our regular weekly EMA playlists going across the platforms that you listen to the most with the music in these as "hot off the press" as possible featuring tracks no older than 3 months from our members. To help rotate the latest beats, we've also added the Apple Music and Hearthis platforms to our rotation so there's no shortage of places where you can find our music! Here's a little reminder of our schedule:
Featured Playlist
In this part of the newsletter, we feature one of the EMA curated playlists shared with us this month and Skaarl is back at it again, taking us on a mega journey through all the electronic music styles from all the artists of EMA with his playlist called "EMAliens - Electronic Journey":
Electronic Alliance Records
Our community run label Electronic Alliance Records continues to grow with a few more releases this month from our cool bunch of producers as more EMAliens look to beam down their beats to planet Earth! Make sure you follow us on our Beatport page to keep in the loop about the latest releases. Wrap your EARs around these:
Featured Artist
We'll be bringing back a regular Featured Artist section of our newsletter with a randomly chosen EMAlien who released with us in the previous month. We're pleased to say that Andrew Gabriel is the chosen one this time round and Nicky Havey had a chance to catch up with him before the Christmas rush! Let's find out how that chat went down!
Hey hey Mr Andrew Gabriel! You're the chosen one this month haha! I hope you're doing well and keeping in shape, pumping that iron at the gym! So, I guess a good place to start is by asking "who is the beats sorcerer that is Andrew Gabriel?!" How did you get involved with music, are there any influences that sparked your interest?
Hey Nicky, man thank you so much I was crazy speechless finding out I was featured artist!
Well it was in 10th grade (2003) and I lived with headphones in my ears, playing mostly early days Tiesto and Daft Punk. I had a white Sony CD Walkman 2003 and I remember buying CDs so I would always have to press the next button. Eventually I just got tired of it so I got on the internet and searched “how to make tracks fit together” and my first look at virtual DJ, I Djed in my room learning it everyday then around 19 (2006) I would DJ parties when I was at college and at my apartment with a lot of trance. Sasha, Digweed type stuff, that lead to DJing at a 3 clubs in the Downtown district of my town. Then in 2011 it hit me that I’ll never be respected as a DJ if I don’t make my own tunes. I knew FL from my big brother so that’s what I chose. I literally just downloaded the demo and started. The rest is Music History.
Haha, I remember those Sony Walkmans! Used to be an important part of my bus journeys to school and those are pretty big names to be influenced by! I guess this has shaped the music you make today or are there other styles you make too?
At the moment I can produce; HipHop, Pop, Dubstep, House, DeepHouse, Trance, Moombaton, RnB. I want to be able to make anything. I know that takes a lot more than a laptop though!
There's nothing wrong with trying your hand at different genres, a lot of our EMAliens do that and like the challenge and variety of different sounds. Hopefully your laptop can handle all the beats you're throwing at it! Speaking of which, have you got any releases coming up or out now - I was listening to last month's release "Die For You" - any more intel on that?
Actually I have literally more than 15 Releases coming on Jan 1 2020 that will be a fun few months of random link sharing! "Die 4 You" is an all team effort by the Greenmamba and myself. He’s an amazing producer and just so amazing to work with. It was not difficult at all to get things going with him, so much talent there that when I got the stuff he sent we had no problem going back and forth with ideas and different edits.
Damn man! No rest for you over the Christmas period then! Looks like 1st Jan is going to be a beat fest - love it! So where's the best place for people to follow you as you share all the links to these new sounds?
Definitely follow this link for all the music - https://linktr.ee/andrewgabrielmusicofc
Awesome - I'm sure there'll be a few clicks through to that link now - go check his music out folks! Alright, so you've been with the EMAlien Mothership now for a few months but we'd all love to know, how did you hear about and first get involved with EMA and EAR?
I got with the mothership on twitter. Originally I saw the group and saw the talent that was already on the roster and doubted I could even get on the roster so I didn’t bother sending a submission. Eventually I said hey if they say no then ok I’ll just get better and try again, But low and behold I sent them some action and they dug it and agreed to bring me aboard. It’s been the best decision I’ve made in my early music career.
EMAzing man! Thanks so much for the kind words, joining the family, showing your support and sharing your music with us, we've loved having you and can't wait to see what 2020 brings for us all! You can listen in to Andrew's music on the Spotify player below:
